Welcome

I am Laura Keys and after having completed my 1st year as the 11th Ward Alderwoman, I am happy to report that I love my job and I’m honored to be of service to you and your family!

I am now running for my first full 4-year term in the new Elevated 11th Ward. As you may remember, I hit the ground running and have continuously worked hard to bring resources, development, and stability to the Ward. I pledge to continue working hard to restore honesty and trust at City Hall and to improve the quality-of-life for all 11th Ward residents.

Additionally, in October 2023, I created a City-Wide Initiative called “Tire Amnesty Day,” in an effort to remove unsightly, and unsafe, tires from our roadways, alleys, and city streets.  During the spring, summer and fall months, three drop-off stations were created to accept tires at the end of the month.  People were encouraged to discard tires in an appropriate ways that do not harm the community.  Persons dropping off tires received a gas gift card as a small token of thanks for their participation.

We have a shared mission to continue to work together to elevate the 11th Ward.  With over 50 years of Neglect and disinvestment in the 11th Ward, there is still lots of work to do.

As we move towards the local elections in March and April, I am asking you to examine the work of my heart, hands, and mind over this past year.  I am also asking for your continued partnership and support as we move forward to create opportunity and community for everyone who lives here.   Together We Thrive, Together We Rise!
